possibilitism:
The world has hit critical stage.
We are globally facing emergencies in the climatic, political, social, ethical, technological and economic spheres.
The world is at a turning point.
A time has come when humans discover that the way they understand and see things has a part in determining how things go.
A time has come when humans learn that training their minds to work to their own benefit is a tool not only for personal liberation, but also for collective liberation.
A time has come when humans reveal to themselves that they have agency in how things happen on a large scale in the world.
A time has come when humans exercise their total creative freedom to help conjure up futures that actually benefit all of living beings, nature, and planet Earth.
Ways in which we’re getting there:
imagining
unimaginable
futures
Imagination is one of our greatest yet most underrated tools to create versions of society that go beyond the current existing state.
Human imagination can act as the missing tool to create desirable futures for humanity when we are fully aware of its creative power, when it is applied with diligent practice, and when it is used purposefully for the collective's benefit.
However,
not just any
desirable future.
It is imperative that the futures we come up with seem unattainable at first — that is key.
Why is that:
In order to pivot a world that has gone too far in undesirable directions we have to practice imagining in new, bold and idealistic ways.
We need to develop and apply new tools entirely.
We need to
paint with new colors
use new language
think new thoughts.
Because as long as we remain within the current boundaries of what is thought to be possible, we will never attain all of the apparently impossible things we can and should want for our planet and humanity.
In order to create something that is totally different than what
& materialism
capitalism
have conditioned us to understand as reality, we will need to implement exactly what these old frameworks have taught us to view as
impossible
It is time to start imagining versions of the future in which far out concepts that appear currently unattainable, have in fact been achieved.
Futures that feel absolutely unbelievable in how incredible they are.
Futures that seem totally far fetched, when imagined from todays standpoint.
hunger being extinguished poverty being eradicated inequality ceasing to exist world peace being attained capitalism being in the past the air being free of pollution cancer being extinguished the oceans being free of plastic humans knowing how to telepathically communicate humans knowing how to levitate all of the planet's waste being eliminated extinct animal species reemerging people seeing others as diverse extensions of themselves borders between countries being deemed unnecessary people living meaningful, artful lives humans learning how to consciously heal themselves planet's earth biomes fully regenerating and thriving all species acknowledging each other's wisdom and participation in the creation of a fruitful reality for all living beings
If thinking of these concepts brings up feelings of impossibility, suspicion, or the pointlessness of you spending your time doing so, then you have reached a very valuable part of yourself:
the skeptic
The skeptic, is the part of us which summarizes all of the things we have ever learned about reality and how the world works, in order to help us define what we believe to be possible or not.
Traditionally skepticism is associated with intelligent and necessary questioning tendencies: it investigates and scrutinizes in order to consider and accept notions.
Encountering our own skeptic when considering these far out concepts being attained is a natural response and points to a couple important things.
First, encountering our skeptic confirms that we have succeeded in envisioning versions of the future that challenge todays notion of what is possible — which is what we had set out to do.
Furthermore, if the skeptic holds as much power as defining the boundaries of our own beliefs, it is crucial for us to realize that these definitions have been created by a framework whose limits we're being invited to
expand
Possibilitism invites us to think of our internal skeptic not as a hindrance but as a gatekeeper instead.
